Yas Lions and Emirates Eagles will lock horns in the 4th match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2026. Lions are off to a losing start in their first season, while the Eagles, also a new franchise, have kicked off on a winning note.

While the Lions posted a 120-run total batting first, which seems like a highly competitive score, opening batter Andries Gous’ performance was certainly below par and hurt the side’s chances of posting an even bigger score.

Jason Holder leads a strong bowling attack with Fazalhaq Farooqi and David Willey in the pace attack. Lions need them to deliver breakthroughs and not let the opposition get away with a match-winning partnership.

Emirates Eagles, on the other hand, were much better with the ball as their key bowlers delivered regular wickets while defending 125 runs. Alex Hales and Shimron Hetmyer failed to score at a rate expected of the big-hitters in such a format.

Yas Lions Preview

Despite a shaky start, the Lions posted a competitive total on the board batting first in the season opener. However, it was nowhere near enough as the opposition, the UAE Bulls, made light of it as they chased down the target with 8 wickets in hand.

Dasun Shanka and Karim Janat were impressive in the middle order. They will be the key batters to watch in this lineup as the Lions aim for a comeback against the Eagles in the second outing of their campaign.

Jason Holder is also a key figure at number 5 and helped finish on a high alongside Janat. Opening batters James Vince and Andries Gous built a 52-run partnership in 34 balls. This may look impressive in a T20 match, but not in a T10 game.

Even T20 matches have bigger powerplay scores of late. Gous’ 19 off 17 will raise concerns for the Lions going ahead. Questions will be raised on his position as they’ve got another strong contender for the opening position in Tom Moores.

Bowling also has to improve for the Lions going ahead. Despite some big names in the side, they failed to break the match-winning 76-run partnership for the second wicket. All eyes will be on Khuzaima Tanveer, one of the top wicket-takers from last season, along with Farooqi and Willey.

Interesting Stats

Karim Janat scored an unbeaten 27 off 9 balls at number 4 and picked up 2 for 10

Janat and Holder added 29 runs for the last 11 balls to help Lions post 120

Yas Lions Predicted Playing XI:

Emirates Eagles Preview

The Eagles delivered a brilliant bowling performance to beat Royal Desert Champions by 16 runs. It was a convincing win as the Eagles held the upper hand for most of the second innings.

Four of their five bowlers were successful in finding a breakthrough. Trent Boult, despite bowling a no-ball, had a great economy of 7.00. Hardus Viljoen, Chris Green, and Haider Razzaq were also crucial with the ball in helping Emirates Eagles dominate the opposition.

Opening batter Kyle Mayers and skipper Rovman Powell played handy knocks earlier in the match to put the Eagles in a competitive position. Powell was the top batter for the Eagles while opener Alex Hales had to be retired out due to his slow knock, scoring 22 off 17 balls with only 1 six and 2 fours.

Hettmyer was also slow in his approach, hitting no sixes and only 2 fours as he scored 15 off 11 balls. However, he had Powell on the other end scoring quickly as the two scored 60 off 24 balls for the 3rd wicket.

They have Kusal Perera lower down the order at number 5, who is also capable of delivering a strong finish. Overall, Emirates Eagles look very promising with some reliable players in both departments looking in fine rhythm.

Interesting Stats

Powell was unbeaten on 41 off 16 balls at number 3 while Mayers delivered a strong start with 39 off 19

Trent Boult finished with 2 for 14 while Viljoen picked up 2 for 19 in his 2 overs

Emirates Eagles Predicted Playing XI:

Alex Hales, Kusal Perera, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell (c), Kyle Mayers, Srikar Bharat (wk), Chris Green, Trent Boult, Hardus Viljoen, Tymal Mills, Haider Razzaq

It is a batting-friendly wicket at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where bowlers have also found help from the surface in the second game itself. We expect a more balanced contest between bat and ball as the tournament progresses, with some of the other bowlers making a dent on the opposition in every game here on. The average first innings score in the first couple of matches played here this season is 122 runs. Anything over 125 will be a highly competitive total, and if the team goes beyond 130 runs, they will be comfortably in the driver’s seat.

Toss: To Bat

In the first two matches of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2026, the team batting first emerged victorious once. While the Bulls chased down 121 in the opening game, the Eagles successfully defended 125 runs in the second match on the opening day of the tournament. However, every team winning the toss so far has opted to bowl first. Nevertheless, considering the nature of the game, we reckon that batting first can be advantageous if the team manages to cross the 120-run mark.

Yas Lions feature some big names in the batting lineup and the all-rounders’ department. It won’t be surprising if they cross the 140-run mark batting first. However, the Eagles, with their bowling strength and current form, will have the upper hand coming into this match. Their top 4 also looks pretty solid, with all four players being match-winners in their true right. While we expect a close encounter between the two teams, the Emirates Eagles will start as favourites in our match prediction.
