QAT vs UAE Match Prediction & Analysis

This ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier is one which plenty of cricket fans across the globe are following and it looks like being a tough opening fixture for Qatar.

Not only have UAE won all four of their previous head to heads in this format - by 23 runs, 29 runs, 60 runs and 28 runs - they also come into this qualifier following the Asia Cup where they played against full member nations.

Both teams will be keen to get off to a winning start but victory in this game alone will not guarantee success in the qualifier!

UAE will certainly be the favourites but we expect Qatar to begin this game on the front foot with both bat or ball.

Qatar Preview

Qatar have been playing a consistent brand of cricket over the last 12 months but they will be hoping for a better result in this game than in their last T20I in July when they lost a Super Over against Saudi Arabia after the match was tied.

Bowling certainly appears to be Qatar's strong suit at the moment and they will bring two players into this game - Mohammed Irshad and Daniel Louis - who took three-wicket hauls in their last fixture.

With the bat, Muhammad Tanveer is a class above his team-mates and he was the only player in the top five to make double figures in their last game. But his ability was truly shown by him hitting 57!

Captain Mirza Mohammed Baig is also a star player but Qatar will need to be at their best if they are to win this game.

This United Arab Emirates side are not short of confidence although their batting self-belief will have been hit a little after they flopped from 85/3 to 105 all out against a strong Pakistan bowling attack in their last game.

However, there will be no pace like Haris Rauf or Shaheen Shah Afridi bowling against them in this game, not to mention spinner Abrar Ahmed so more runs from the lower-middle order should be expected.

Captain Muhammad Waseem is the star player for UAE and he will be expected to hit the majority of the runs.

With the ball, expect opener Junaid Siddique to lead the attack after he took eight wickets from his last two games in the Asia Cup.
