Desert Vipers Development head into the opening contest on the back of a solid campaign in the main tournament. They won the ILT20 title in 2025/26 by defeating MI Emirates in the final. Their development team also qualified for the finals of the ILT20 Development Tournament but lost to Sharjah. 

The Vipers won three out of five games in the 2025 edition and finished third in the points table. They defeated Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by five runs in a high-scoring semifinal game. They fell short of four runs in the final. It was a low-scoring encounter and Sharjah defended 134 runs. 

Sanjay Pahal could be a player to watch out for. He was named Player of the Tournament last year after accumulating  157 runs and picking 12 wickets. His impressive performance earned him a place in the Desert Vipers squad for ILT20 Season 4. 

Khuzaima Tanveer and Matiullah Khan will also bring international experience. Tanveer bagged six wickets for UAE in the recently concluded ACC Men's Premier Cup and helped his side to reach finals. He also scored 68 off 29 balls in the previous T20 game against Malaysia. They also have an experienced wicketkeeper-batter Vriitya Aravind, who is coming off a good form.

MI Emirates enter the contest with a super form in the main event of ILT20 where they had a run to the finals. Unfortunately, they ended up as a losing side. They lost to the Desert Vipers in the final. Both teams are ready to lock horns in the Development Tournament. Meanwhile, they had a different story in the 2025 Development Tournament. 

MI Emirates finished fifth in the points table with two wins and three defeats in five games during the 2025 ILT20 Development Tournament. The Emirates missed out the place in the semifinals. However, they defeated the Desert Vipers by 11 runs in the previous meeting. 

MI Emirates Development focused on the solid domestic players. Muhammad Waseem could be a player to watch out for. The UAE International recently played in the European T20 Premier League. He is the third-highest run-scorer in ILT20 history with 1,241 runs. Muhammad Rohid, Ali Naseer, Aryan Lakra and Zahoor Khan are also strong players in their squad.
