AFG vs ZIM Betting Odds

Bookie AfghanistanAFG ZimbabweZIM

Afghanistan will face Zimbabwe in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 29, 2026. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM IST.

Afghanistan lead the series 1–0 after registering a convincing 37-run victory in the opening match. Despite early batting trouble, Afghanistan recovered to post 177 before dismissing Zimbabwe for 140. The result continued Afghanistan’s dominance over Zimbabwe and carried forward the momentum they generated by winning the preceding ODI Tri-Nation Series.

The second T20I is particularly important for both teams. Afghanistan can secure the series with a match to spare, while Zimbabwe must win to level the contest and force a decider. Zimbabwe’s bowlers created opportunities in the opener, but their batting failed to capitalise, while Afghanistan demonstrated their considerable depth with both bat and ball.

Can Zimbabwe respond with the series on the line, or will Afghanistan continue their dominance and wrap up the contest in Sharjah?

Afghanistan Preview

Afghanistan have carried their strong ODI form into the T20I series and now lead Zimbabwe 1–0 after winning the opener by 37 runs. Before the T20 leg, Afghanistan were unbeaten in the ODI Tri-Nation Series, defeating Zimbabwe by 158 runs and Bangladesh by seven wickets before beating Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the final.

Afghanistan overcame a serious top-order wobble in the first T20I. Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal and Mohammad Akram managed only 11 runs between them before Shahidullah steadied the innings with 46. Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai then smashed 52 off 22 balls and Rashid Khan blasted 30 from just 10, lifting Afghanistan to 177. Their bowlers subsequently dismissed Zimbabwe for 140, with Fazalhaq Farooqi taking 3/13, while Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Azmatullah Omarzai claimed two wickets each.

Despite failing in the opener, Ibrahim Zadran remains Afghanistan’s leading recent batter with 271 runs from eight matches at an average of 38.71 and strike rate of 132.19. Rahmanullah Gurbaz has scored 227 runs from eight matches at 141.87. Among the bowlers, Rashid Khan has 12 wickets from eight recent matches, while Azmatullah Omarzai has also taken 12 wickets from seven matches.

Afghanistan have made some notable changes for this T20I series, with Ibrahim captaining the side and Ijaz Ahmadzai and Shahidullah Kamal returning to the format. If Ibrahim and Gurbaz can provide a stronger start in the second T20I, Afghanistan should be extremely difficult for Zimbabwe to contain and have an excellent opportunity to seal the series.

Key Players: Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rashid Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqi

Zimbabwe Preview

Zimbabwe enter the second T20I under pressure after losing the series opener by 37 runs, leaving them 0–1 down in the three-match series. Their ODI leg was also inconsistent: they opened the Tri-Nation Series with an impressive 99-run victory over Bangladesh, but lost to Afghanistan by 158 runs before going down to the same opponents by seven wickets in the final.

Zimbabwe had Afghanistan in trouble during the opening T20I but could not capitalise. Newman Nyamhuri claimed 4/31, while Brad Evans and Ernest Masuku took two wickets each, but Afghanistan’s lower-order counterattack pushed the total to 177. In reply, Zimbabwe were dismissed for 140 in 19.1 overs. Ryan Burl top-scored with 32 off 24 balls, while Innocent Kaia made 24, with no batter able to produce the substantial innings required in the chase.

Based on recent T20I numbers, Ryan Burl leads Zimbabwe’s batting with 223 runs from 10 matches at an average of 31.86, while Brian Bennett has scored 197 runs from 10 matches at a strike rate of 131.33. With the ball, Brad Evans has taken 17 wickets from 10 matches, while Blessing Muzarabani has collected seven wickets from nine. Nyamhuri’s four-wicket haul in the opener further strengthens Zimbabwe’s pace options.

Zimbabwe remain without Richard Ngarava, who has been recovering from a back injury, while Sikandar Raza continues to captain the white-ball side. Zimbabwe showed in the opener that their bowling can trouble Afghanistan, but their batting remains the decisive weakness.

The venue of the match is Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. Opened in 1982, the ground is one of the UAE’s most famous cricket venues. The Sharjah surface generally becomes slower as the match progresses, bringing spinners and variations into play, although the short boundaries can reward aggressive batting. The average first-innings T20 score is 145, but stronger batting sides can push considerably higher. A first-innings score of around 165–175 runs should be competitive.

Toss: To Bat

Sharjah Cricket Stadium has generally favoured teams batting first in T20 cricket. Across 75 T20 matches, teams batting first have won 44, compared with 31 victories for teams bowling first. The team winning the toss should bat first here.

Afghanistan enter the second T20I with the clear advantage after their 37-run victory in the series opener. Their top order struggled, but their batting depth helped them reach 177 before a strong bowling attack dismissed Zimbabwe for 140. Zimbabwe created opportunities with the ball but again lacked the batting firepower required to challenge Afghanistan. With Afghanistan also dominating the recent head-to-head record, they are favourites to take an unassailable 2–0 lead.

We predict that Afghanistan will defeat Zimbabwe.
