Afghanistan beat Bangladesh in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. After receiving a drubbing in the T20I series in Sharjah, Rashid Khan will be happy to see his team bounce back in the one-dayer.
A win here and they will seal the series with an unassailable lead. Spinners will be key to success for both teams on this ground.
Tanvir Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for Bangladesh, and Rashid Khan and AM Ghazanfar for Afghanistan are the key wicket-takers in the spin bowling department.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, despite a fifty in the first one-day, is yet to live up to the expectation. The opening batsman has struggled to convert his good starts in T20Is, and this was also the case in the last match.
Bangladesh has depth in the batting with skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz and wicket-keeper Jaker Ali coming in at 5 and 6, followed by Nurul Hasan, another wicket-keeper batter. They will be keen on making a comeback with the bat and posting a bigger total in this match.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has found himself in a strange spot. He’s got decent scores in recent outings, but hasn’t made an impact expected of an experienced, attacking batsman like him.
His opening partner, Ibrahim Zadran, is also an experienced campaigner whose struggles with the bat were evident in recent matches. The two scored a 52-run opening partnership in the last game, but neither of them stayed long enough at the crease to convert their start into something bigger.
Afghanistan’s batting looks very strong with the likes of Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi at 4 and 5.
Along with the openers, the number 3 batter Sediqullah Atal also had issues with his strike rates in the T20Is. We expect him to perform better in the one-dayers. The top 5 is packed with experience and talent.
Many of them are known for their attacking approach in the white-ball format, and though the conditions here may not suit that style of play, Afghanistan will find a way to adapt and deliver an impactful performance.
In the lower middle order, there are all-rounders like Azmatullah Omrazai, Mohammad Nabi, and skipper Rashid Khan. The batting lineup goes deep. They should be able to post a competitive total even if they were put to bat first.
In the bowling attack, along with AM Ghazanfar and Rashid Khan, Afghanistan will also rely on other spin-bowling options like Nangeyalia Kharote and the veteran all-rounder Nabi. Omarazai will lead the pace attack, and the only other pace-bowling option is Bashir Ahmed, who made his debut in the last game.
Rahmat Shah Total Runs Over 24.5 1.85
Rahmat Shah played a match-winning knock of 50 runs in 77 balls, smashing two fours in the first ODI. He has a pretty good record at Zayed Stadium, where he has scored 277 runs in eight matches, averaging 39.57. Given his current run of form, we are backing Rahmat Shah to replicate the performance from the last match and score over 24 runs in today's match against Bangladesh.
Hashmatullah Shahidi Total Runs Over 21.5 1.85
The skipper of Afghanistan, Hashmatullah Shahidi, remained unbeaten on 33 runs in the last match, steering Afghanistan over the line. So far this year, he has scored 93 runs in four matches, averaging 31. He is one of the safest and most reliable players you can bet on when it comes to player props, as he doesn't take much risk and is an assured bet to score over 21 runs in this fixture.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a captain’s knock, scoring 60 off 87 at number 5, and was part of the 101-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy for the 4th wicket.
The skipper also delivered a brilliant spell with the ball, picking up one wicket for 32 runs in his 10 Overs. However, Miraz will be disappointed with others in the batting lineup. After the 101-run stand was broken, Bangladesh lost the remaining 6 wickets for just 67 runs.
This collapse was the turning point in the game. Despite some economical bowling from Bangladesh bowlers, a 221-run total was always within reach for a strong Afghanistan batting order.
While Towhid Hridoy, skipper Miraz, and Jaker Ali hold key positions in the middle order and are also quite reliable, Saif Hassan and Najmul Hossain Shanto must also deliver big in the top 3.
Saif Hassan was in fine touch in the T20Is while wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hassan delivered some quick runs at the death. The latter will be one to watch out for in the lower order.
Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Shakib will lead the pace attack for Bangladesh. The bowlers have been brilliant throughout the T20Is and were also exceptionally good in the first one-dayer.
There is a good balance of bowlers in the side with three pacers and two spinners. Shanto, with his right-arm offbreak bowling, offers another spin bowling option for the skipper.
Towhid Hridoy Total Runs Over 24.5 1.85
Towhid Hridoy scored 56 runs in the last match against Afghanistan, but unfortunately, he got out at a critical time, which resulted in Bangladesh finishing 30-40 runs below par. So far this year, he has scored 266 runs in 6 matches, averaging 44.33. He is one of the consistent run-scorers for Bangladesh in the middle order who can play both pace and spin well. Having played most of the recent matches at Abu Dhabi, he is well accustomed to the conditions and is a safe player to bet on to score over 24 runs.

It will be a clear and sunny day in Abu Dhabi with a high of 33 degrees Celsius on the match day. There will be considerable humidity, which will assist the pacers in the early overs to find movement through the air.

Average Turn
Chasing has been a great option in the T20Is on this pitch due to the due factor and the grassy pitches. However, in one-day games, things are slightly different as the pitch plays out differently. There is help for the spinners on this wicket, and the average first innings score is 251 runs, while the average 2nd innings score on this ground in 55 one-day matches is 207. If the team batting first crosses the 265-run mark, they will be comfortably in the winning position.
Total Match Score Under 487.5 1.72
The total match score in the last ODI match played at Abu Dhabi was 447 runs. The last three ODI matches played at this venue have been moderate scoring, with the average total match score being around 460-465 runs. Both teams boast a solid bowling lineup, and a score of around 230-240 runs batting first could be challenging. We predict the total match score in this fixture will be under 488 runs.
Bangladesh to win the coin toss 1.95
We back Bangladesh to win the coin toss in the 2nd ODI match against Afghanistan at Shiekh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
There was a clear reason for Bangladesh choosing to bat first in the opening game. Teams batting first on this ground have won 36 of the 55 one-day internationals, and there is a clear edge in favour of the batting team. And though Afghanistan chased down the total in the last match, we believe batting first is still a better choice, given the difficult conditions on this wicket that the batters have to deal with.
It will be a close contest between the two teams. Toss will play a big role in this match. However, Afghanistan, with their batting strength and bowling variety, will have a slight edge going into this match. Afghanistan will start as the favourites in our match prediction.
