After a bright start to their season where they won their first two games against the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets the Orlando Magic have since been on an inconsistent run that has left them 6 games behind the Eastern Conference leaders in the Cleveland Cavaliers and will need to get their performances straight if they are to go further in the playoffs this term.
While their start was positive their loss in the third game to the Memphis Grizzlies took the wind out of their sail and while they did win their fourth game against the Indiana Pacers the damage was already done during their first defeat of the season as after they lost their star man Paolo Banchero during their fifth game the Magic then went on a five game losing streak where they lost against the likes of the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers which left them with a negative record of 3 wins and 6 losses.
Although the Magic have since picked up the pace and gotten back on track with 3 consecutive wins their record at the time of writing stands at 6-6 which keeps them in third place but is still extinguishable as there are teams below them that have played 2 games fewer when compared to them. Despite this negative factor the Magic aren’t by any means in an alarming situation and should be able to recover well if they keep this winning momentum going in the next few games.

After being eliminated by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023-24 Eastern Conference playoffs the Philadelphia 76ers seemed to be serious about their title chances this season as the team had a great off-season to begin with where they re-signed star duo Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on three- and five-year deals respectively while also adding the likes of Paul George, Caleb Martin and Andre Drummond.
But despite this off-season promise and a relatively easier fixture list compared to their other title rivals the Sixers so far have been one of the few teams that have had an underwhelming showing up until now as they currently sit in the bottom half of the table and could be at the bottom of the pile if they aren’t able to put together wins in the coming few weeks.
Having started the season with two losses the 76ers needed overtime to win their first game of the season during their third fixture against the Pacers after which the Philly side lost five games in a row against the likes of the Detroit Pistons, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
This run of defeats finally came to an end against the Charlotte Hornets but in a similar story to all their matches this season the Philadelphia 76ers lost their very next game against the New York Knicks in the NBA Cup in a game where they welcomed back reigning MVP Joel Embiid for the first time this season. Currently second from the bottom the 76ers have a long way back and will need to put up a winning run sooner than later if they are to climb back to the playoffs spots and will require Paul George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey to be at their best for this to happen.

With both teams having dreamt of reaching the NBA Finals at the start of the season the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers have been hit with reality checks in their own special manner as both sides have had results that they weren’t expecting at the start of this season.
While the 76ers started their season without their star duo and suffered due to these absences the Magic on the other hand lost their main man during the season and have just started to recuperate without him. Now with Philly finally able to start with Embiid and Paul George in the starting five it will be interesting to see how quickly they can make a turnaround given that the Magic needed at least 5-games to get their bearings together.
You can expect this game to go back and forth as both teams have struggled to get points with the Magic averaging 108.5 points per game while the 76ers have an average of 106.4. The following odds should be the ones that fans need to watch out for as given how the two have fared so far it seems plausible that these slips will hit and yield strong returns.
1st Half Total Over 107.5 1.88
Total Match Points Over 208.5 1.83
| Player Name | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Steals/Blocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kelly Oubre Jr | 15.1 | 4.4 | 1.4 | 1.0/0.1 |
| Franz Wagner | 19.9 | 5.1 | 4.5 | 1.4/0.2 |
| Paul George | 14.2 | 4.8 | 5.8 | 1.8/0.2 |
| Jalen Suggs | 15.3 | 5.2 | 4.2 | 1.5/1.0 |
The two sides have been very inconsistent this season but the downfall of the Philadelphia side has been ginormous to say the least. Although the return of Embiid and Paul George’s 29-point haul against the New York Knicks will be huge positives for the 76ers it is hard to see them get the win on the night given that the Orlando Magic are still unbeaten at home and have so far been a great defensive unit with 104.6 points per game conceded being the best defensive record in the Eastern Conference.
