Shivam Dube added to India’s ODI squad after Nitish Kumar Reddy injury

Shivam Dube has been named as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s ODI squad for the series against England, after Reddy failed to recover from a quadriceps injury.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Monday that Dube would stay back for the three-match ODI series, which starts at Edgbaston on Tuesday. The final two matches will be played in Cardiff on July 16 and at Lord’s on July 19.
“The Selection Committee has named Shivam Dube as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s squad for the ODI series against England,” the BCCI said in a statement. Devajit Saikia, the BCCI Secretary, noted that Dube is currently in England for the five-match T20I series. Reddy’s injury was sustained during the third ODI against Afghanistan in Chennai, and a timeline for his return to competitive cricket is yet to be firmed up.
Dube has played four ODIs, scoring 43 runs and taking one wicket. His last match in the format came against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in August 2024. He has not played an ODI since that time, and the BCCI stated that he will now remain with the squad for the England series.
India’s updated ODI squad is: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, and Shivam Dube.
The ODI series follows the ongoing five-match T20I series between the two sides. India are trailing 1–0 after losing the second match by four wickets, following a washout in the first match. The third T20I will be played at Trent Bridge on Thursday, the fourth in Bristol on Friday, and the fifth in Southampton on Saturday.
